My name is Susan Pearson, and my website address is

What personal data do I collect and why I collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the
comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string
to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash)
may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar
service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.If you
are using it, after the approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to
the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

If you choose to subscribe to my mailing list, I will store the name and email
address you provide. This information will be used solely to email you to let you
know about new blog posts or information I think you would like to know.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt in to save your name, email
address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do
not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These
cookies will last for one year.

I really value your privacy, therefore I no longer use Google Analytics, I use
Independent Analytics to track which pages people are visiting. It is 100% GDPR
Compliant and doesn’t use any tracking cookies.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained
indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments
automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal
information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete
their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their
username). Michael and I can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to
receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any
data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal
data l hold about you. This does not include any data l am obliged to keep for
administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection
service.

Additional information

How I protect your data

The only people who can log into this website and see the data you have
provided are Michael and | (unless our web host Krystal needs to gain access in
the event of a major technical incident). The website is only accessed through
password protected devices.
